In the part of my life where I get my act together, I paint and shower and floss… But mostly, paint. Here’s a watercolor I finished about a week ago of my dear, lovely, bubbly friend Rio and her adorable boy toy, Travis. Watercolor & Micron pens, Feb 2011.
I’m finally getting back to watercolors. This is supposed to resemble my curly haired, red-headed friend who is completely the cat’s pajamas!
I’m making plushies as belated Christmas gifts for the boys I babysit on Tuesdays.. Never having made plushies before, I’m succeeding immensely in making these look completely goofy, but hopefully the boys like them anyway! This is the second one, a scarlet macaw (more or less).

So, I’ve never made a plushie before. I’ve actually never really sewn before this year. That said, here’s an alligator that I made! Hopefully I’ll get the hang of this sometime.. Until then, this will serve as a reminder of what happens when you decide to sew something without a pattern..
So the holidays are so super close, and though school is out I feel like I still have a bunch to do. Maybe that’s part of the whole adulthood transition— actually having to be in charge of things like buying presents in mass, wrapping presents in mass, baking legitimately edible holiday foods..
That said, I’ll be sewing, painting, and baking and posting!

Did a photoshoot with a cuuuuute family last month and finally finished ‘shopping the pictures. Here are some of my favorites!
Vacation is nearly gone, and with all the Thanksgiving meals we’ve been a part of, I don’t think we’ll have to buy groceries for weeks. And although there are a billion sales going on right now (I’m a huge sucker for sales), shopping is out of the question. Time to hunker down and doodle before my break is officially over!

I’m one of those people who celebrates Christmas all year long. Those taboos of playing christmas songs before Thanksgiving just don’t exist for me! My Christmas shopping starts December 26th.. I’m counting down christmas from 365 every year. If you’re the type who is probably more reasonable with their holidays and starts gift shopping when it is actually the holiday season, then I have just the thing for you!
Within the next few days, I’ll be listing my Fancy Book for Colors on Etsy.. It could be the perfect gift for your dear friend, So-and-So. Just wrap it up with a box of colored pencils and Viola! Christmas shopping, done! So-and-So is going to love it. Maybe So-and-So’s life has gotten busy and they should just kick back and remember the days when homework meant coloring and the only thing they did from 9-5 was play outside. Or maybe they love DIY projects and adorable stuff! Or maybe your doing some holiday shopping for yourself.. I’ve just ordered a bundle of coloring books— so begins the biggest investment (aside from car-ownership) of my life. Actually, I don’t make many big purchases, so anything over $40 is a big investment.
The moral of this story is: in approximately ten days I’ll have this lovely box of lovely coloring books and just in time for the holidays. Can’t think of a holiday present for so-and-so? Well, I bet so-and-so would love a cheery, quirky, age-appropriate coloring book complete with mermaids, princesses, amputees, kittens, a supercute superhero and a bunch of other stuff!
